Collecting Antique Tractor

The first vehicle with a motor was a farm tractor. The motor of this farm tractor was a stem engine. This antique tractor was built in 1769 in France. Antique tractors are still being used today.

Whether you want an antique tractor as a collector's item or an addition to your farm equipment arsenal, there are plenty out there in mint condition.
  • Choose an antique tractor by assessing the condition of the land you want to work. Antique farm tractors have specific purposes. Each has its own accessories.
  • Decide if you want to be a collector of an antique tractor. If you do, then you will want to look at what on the tractor is original and how much was paid for the antique tractor when it was first on the market.

  • Search online for antique tractor stores --they are out there. As always with the Internet, know what you want.

  • Travel to local farm sales and auctions. Gems and treasures are found everyday.

  • Read your local classified sections for antiques and subscribe to antique tractor newsletters on the Internet.

  • Go to fairs, field days and expos and talk to people who have the same passion as you. People clean out the barns every day--keep traveling, make connections and most importantly research before you buy.
